Research Data Management
The Office for Open Research provides expert support, guidance and infrastructure to enable researchers to manage their research data effectively, from planning to publishing and preservation.
Our services help you to comply with legal, ethical, institutional, and funder requirements, as well as community principles such as FAIR.
The University of Manchester Research Data Management Policy outlines the responsibilities of researchers and the institution. This includes a requirement for researchers to write and maintain a data management plan (DMP) for every research study, before the research commences, using the DMPonline service.
We offer the following research data management services:
- support with writing your data management plan (DMP);
- support with using DMPonline to write and maintain your DMP;
- a DMP review service that provides feedback on your fully completed DMP;
- guidance and training on best practices for managing, preserving and sharing your data;
- coordination of the University’s Research Data Stewardship Community, to share and learn about research data stewardship related training, resources, events, and expert research data management advice;
- support with using Figshare, the University’s institutional research data repository, where you can deposit and openly publish your research data;
- support with recording your published datasets in Pure.
