Research IT provides a range of free training courses in open source software such as R and Python to researchers and postgraduate research students across the University.

The Software Sustainability Institute, of which The University of Manchester is a collaborator, provides support and advocates for more sustainable research software.
The Institute provides a range of helpful resources with information on software project management and sustainability.
